Nearly every weekend I perform for one or more birthday parties throughout the western Washington area. Sometimes these are for milestone celebrations like 40th, 50th, 60th, and – well, you get the picture. Frequently it’s for kid’s birthday parties. The great thing about doing magic that is CLEAN and STRONG is that I’m able to customize my presentations so that there’s something for everyone. This means that the kids at the 60th birthday party AND the aunts and uncles at the 7th birthday party all will enjoy the show!
Here’s something that may surprise you: teens are one of the best magic audiences. Each year I do several performances for middle schools, high school grad parties, Sweet 16, and teenage birthday parties. Yes, at first they are often skeptical. It takes really amazing magic to keep and hold their attention. Nothing cheesy, and nothing kiddie, but powerful magic done right is always a hit for this age group.
Yesterday I performed for Nathan’s 14th birthday party in Graham (south of Tacoma). About fifteen of his friends were there to celebrate, and I did kind of a hybrid blend of close-up and stand-up magic. Afterwards, everyone received their own pocket magic trick to take home and do for their friends and family. It was fun watching the kids performing their tricks for each other.
“Nathan’s birthday party today with magician-comedian, Jeff Evans. The kids LOVED him. He showed them how to do several of the magic tricks later and gave them some tricks to do on their friends/family. He was a big hit. I highly recommend him for your next event, if you live in the Puget Sound area!”

Teens particularly love close-up magic. This is the “street style” of magic popularized on TV by magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel performed with coins, cards, rubber bands, dollar bills, pens – basically, ordinary items that can be borrowed or examined. Then, the impossible happens while everyone is crowded around, just inches away from the magic.
