Bellevue Magic in the Park

pre-show publicity

No “movie magic” here; magician Jeff Evans brings his Amazement Magic Show to the kickoff the showing of the movie Thunderstruck as part of Bellevue’s Outdoor Movies in the Park series.  The winner of ParentMap.com’s Best Live Entertainment Golden Teddy award and the only 3-time winner of the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians’ Best Children’s Entertainer award, Jeff’s interactive show is full of mind boggling magic you’ll go home talking about.  His show has been called “clean enough for kids, yet sophisticated enough for adults.”  Rated PG (Partying Groups).

This was my first time “opening” for a movie. Bellevue Parks and Community Services hosts a weekly outdoor movie series in the summer. They have several thousand people attend, and hundreds of them arrive early to reserve their spot and enjoy dinner and let their kids play. (It’s not just for kids; there were several volleyball courts set up with groups ranging from casual recreational to serious games.)

Bellevue’s Downtown Park is a hidden gem; it’s located just south of the Bellevue Square shopping center, and if you weren’t looking for it you might never realize it’s there. A stream of water flows around the largest grass area and empties into a huge “infinity pool” with falls that is really pretty. It’s easy to forget where you are, until you look over the tops of trees and shrubs and see the skyscrapers of downtown Bellevue stretching skyward.

Thanks to Brad Bennett and Dot Long with Bellevue Community Services for having me be part of this event and for sharing some photos.
