Washington State Fair Association Convention

Each year I perform for several fairs throughout Washington state. The fair managers and their board of directors meet each year at the Washington State Fairs Association to reflect on the past year and make plans for next year’s events. As it has been for several years, the convention was held at the Yakima Convention Center.

I’ve met some of the nicest people through the WSFA.  These people – from fair managers and staff to their Board of Directors (all volunteers) – work extremely hard to spread the joy of their county fair to their community and beyond.  Some of these volunteers have been part of their fair for many decades.  Hats of to them!  I have many wonderful memories of going to the Thurston County and the Puyallup Fair with my family as a kid.  (We got free entrance tickets and could even leave school early to attend the Puyallup Fair – now THAT was a special treat!)

The annual convention is also one of the few times when performers can hang out and catch up with other acts.  Although I get to see some of these guys and gals at fairs and festivals, it’s typically fleeting as one act is striking their props and the next is trying to load gear in.  Watching the entertainment showcases is inspiring even for me.  There are some great acts out there!

My schedule for next summer is already slowly beginning to take shape.  To see if there’s room for YOUR fair or festival, call me in Olympia toll-free (877) 412-5064 or send e-mail to jeff[at]amazementproductions.com.  Click here to watch video and learn more about my magic shows for fairs and festivals.
