Poverty Bay Wedding & Event Show

Washington Wedding &
Event Planners Showcase

It’s always nice hanging out with friends in the wedding and event industry.  Yesterday nearly forty wedding planners, decorators, caterers, venue hosts, DJs, etc. throughout the Puget Sound area came together at the Des Moines Auditorium for the first annual Poverty Bay Wedding and Event Show.  Special thanks to Jaimee Swindall (Muse Event Planning & Production) and Shannon Kirchberg (City of Des Moines Events Coordinator) who made it happen.

The Auditorium is within view of the beach in Des Moines, a very neat location.  It was my first time to this venue, but it’s easy to see lots of fantastic photo opportunities with the bride and groom and the wedding party on with the beach and water as the backdrop.

“Why would I hire a magician for my wedding
reception?  That sounds kind of hokey…”

Think again!  Guests frequently come from all over for the special occasion, but many don’t know others.  Strolling magic is a great icebreaker and conversation starter.  A great time from magic is the transition between the wedding ceremony and the beginning of the reception, as people are mingling and waiting for the food and festivities.  (The wedding couple may be with the photographer, etc.)

And are there kids at the reception?  Voilamagic is one of the few things that is fascinating for all ages.  (And you don’t want the kids getting antsy and running amok at the reception, do you?)
