Shriners know how to throw a party! The theme was an ol’ fashioned Red White and Blue Old Time Picnic. Their poster says it best:
Live Music, the best Professional Magician in Washington, Jeff Evans, with a full Stage show and “Strolling Magic”. The best of food, burgers, shave ice, cotton candy, and lots of other faves. Horseshoes, frisbee golf, volleyball, lawn dice, table games & the Masonic Egg Toss.
It was all free and at the B.P.O. Elks Club in Bremerton. The weather couldn’t have been nicer. I have to say, a dunk tank really makes a party on a beautiful day like this!
- What’s a picnic with a dunk tank? BETTER!
- The Bremerton Elks was the ideal picnic location
- Magician Jeff Evans at the Kitsap Peninsula Shrine Club
- Noble Fred did a fantastic job of coordinating the picnic
- Burgers, dogs, potato salad, watermelon, all of the picnic necessities!
- Dan played music throughout the afternoon
Noble Fred Corbett, the event organizer, and I go way back. He hired me to perform for the Tumwater Lions Club in December of 1997. Apparently he saves EVERYTHING, because he surprised me by showing me his Lions scrapbook from that year that had photos from my performance, one of my old brochures (same phone number!), and a clipping from The Olympian where they interviewed me when I was performing at the Golden Eagle Restaurant at the Lucky Eagle Casino. Looking at the photos I know exactly what trick I was performing. A trip down memory lane for sure!
