The Northwest Ford Truck Association wanted to make this meeting something special and out of the ordinary. Many spouses attended and were able to play tourist in downtown Portland in a beautiful sunny fall day. I performed mingling magic during the cocktail hour. Not only do people love seeing magic close-up, but it also gives me a chance to get to know my audience for later in the evening.
After dinner the outgoing Association officers were thanked and the new leaders introduced. After a speech by Gresham Ford’s Bess Wills, I performed my stand-up show for the group of about a hundred Ford dealers, vendors, partners, and spouses. I even debuted a new trick, customized with the names of dozens of Ford vehicles, that was a huge hit. Thanks to Meryl and the super staff with the Portland Marriott City Center for being wonderful hosts and making everything run smoothly.
